Children design a better future - AIWW Public Event
Children are curious and love to explore their environment. The last few months Waternet challenged 500 children & adults to see, feel, smell and taste the surface water in Amsterdam during The Clean Water Experiment. With this initiative of Deltares, KWR, AMS Institute and artist Pavèl van Houten they experienced their local environment. However, children's skills, curiosity, creativity and innovative thinking stretches further. Therefore, Waternet and the AIWW challenges children to think beyond borders concerning international solutions to local issues and design smart solutions to improve water quality all over the world.
In collaboration with Designathon Works, artist Pavèl van Houten and www.hetschonewaterexperiment.nl, we will inspire children to design and create an innovative solution or concept to improve water quality. Children’s ideas will be transformed into a large object that will create awareness among Dutch citizens and inspire international water professionals to think creatively.
Curious about the result? The art piece will be revealed on Sunday the 29th of October at Arcam, Centre of Architecture Amsterdam, during the public event of the AIWW. During the AIWW it will be showed at the RAI at the Aquatech tradefair. Two of the participating children will take part in the Global Children’s Designathon on November 11th in Amsterdam.
